Infrastructure


Effective teaching and learning process requires certain physical amenities like building, well-furnished classrooms, library, computer laboratories, sports equipment for teaching and learning etc. The college provides all the essential physical facilities required for quality education. Presently the total area under possession of the college is 4.14 Acres. The college building comprises of Multi-Purpose Hall, smart classrooms, classrooms including P.T.A. Block and computer block, library, computer labs, vocational lab, language lab, Registrar Examinations room, gymnasium, administrative office, staff room, girls common room, N.C.C. room, NSS room, RUSA room, IQAC room, Departmental rooms, Career Counseling and Placement Cell, Bursar room and Canteen.25 KW Solar Panel installed on the multipurpose hall.
The students are provided other amenities like un-interrupted supply of power through Genset, drinking water-coolers with R.O. facility, first aid, hostel and canteen facilities. Another note- worthy feature of infrastructural amenities is that our college has a well-equipped library. Besides newspapers, magazines and journals, the library contains very precious books on almost all subjects, including e-books and e-journals. The college has also kept pace with the technological changes and has facilities of computer with internet and other ICT facilities.





Classrooms

The Institute has 28 well-furnished, spacious and well ventilated classrooms which are also well illuminated. Classrooms are maintained as per norms for proper visibility and audibility. The classrooms are equipped with adequate furniture, blackboard, projectors, fans, lights and power backup.





Laboratories

The Institution has domain centric laboratories. Adequate and well maintained equipments are provided. The laboratories are kept open beyond the working hours depending on the need of the students. Sufficient safety measures have been incorporated and are displayed at strategic locations in the laboratories. One Vocational Lab is also provided for the Office Automation and Secretarial Practices. There is one Language Lab which caters the needs of students for improving Spoken English. The institution has 112 computers. Every department has separate computer systems. There is a Language Lab consisting of 22 N Computing and one server facility provided to the students.





Seminar / Multi-purpose Hall

The college has one seminar hall and one multipurpose hall to conduct seminars, conferences, guest lectures, and workshops for students and faculty. All seminar halls have adequate seating capacity and these are equipped with LCD projectors, whiteboards, raised platforms and public address system with internet facility. Multipurpose hall with latest facilities provides ample opportunity for our staff and students to exhibit their talents in different activities. It is fitted with state of art audio visual system and Air Conditioned.






Sports

Apart from imparting knowledge, our college is bound to take care of the physical fitness of the students. The students of our college has been divided into four Houses i.e.Dhruv, Himalaya, Prithvi & Triveni. Inter House competitions are held from time to time to promote the spirit of sportsmanship among the students. The Gymnasium Hall of the college has been equipped with modern fitness machines and the college also provides facilities for badminton, table- tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, kho-kho, gymnastics and martial art teams.The students of the college have brought many laurels in various sports at State and National Level Competitions organised by Punjabi University, Patiala. Although the college does not have a subject of Physical Education yet the students have won at Inter-University and at All India Inter University Level.






Library

Library is an organized collection of information resources made accessible to its members. The Library occupies a prominent position and it is an integral part of the teaching program. It is a treasure of knowledge and wisdom .College Library is meant for helping students and teachers to acquire knowledge. The basic function of college library is to assist its parent body to carry out its programs. The Library of Govt. Bikram college of Commerce, a Professional College is situated in a separate Building. It covers the area of 3200 sq.ft. (297 sq. Mts.) Library has a collection of 18,014 books. It subscribes 10 newspapers (English, Hindi and Punjabi),25 Journals related to Commerce and Management, Economics, Computer Science, Higher Education and 16 General and Competitive magazines. Library has a seating capacity of 80 students. Library is partially automated with the Software SOUL 2.0 from INFLIBNET developed by an Inter-University Centre of UGC .Now SOUL 2.0 upgraded with KOHA Software and entire data integrated. Most of the Collection is computerized .OPAC (Online public access catalogue) is available for searching the books .Bar-coding of books is in Progress. Printed Magazines and journals are displayed in Magazine stand for use. Open access system is followed for books also. Old volumes of Academic Journals are Bound for Reference and Research Purpose. Along with the Printed material, library subscribes to E-resources through N-List Programme of INFLIBNET which provide access to about approx. 8 Lacs e-books and 6000+ e-journals. For remote access of N-LIST passwords are issued to Faculty and Students .Internet and reprographic services are also available in the Library. Book bank is one of the special and important features of the library, as through book bank needy students get the library books issued for the whole session/ semester. Reader's Club has also been formed to promote reading habits in the staff and students. The College has also instituted 'Best Library User Award' to the students of under-graduate & post-graduate classes, who has made extensive use of the library during the session and the selected students were conferred a Merit Certificates on Annual Prize Distribution Function. As per the Higher Office Directions all Library work is done through Library Advisory Committee. Recently BALA work (Building as Learning Aid) has been carried out . RO Drinking water and clean washroom facility is available around the Library for students.

Transport, Medical and Canteen Facilities

The institute provides bus pass facilities for the students from and to various parts of the nearby city through state transport. College dispensary provides first aid facilities. The institute has a tie up with a nearby Sadhbhawna Hospital for any medical emergency. Canteen facilities are also provided for students & staff which has adequate seating capacity. Food served is hygienically prepared and subsidized.






Internet

Speed 200 mbps data 3300 GB Bharat Fiber FTTH Plans (BSNL) Internet facility is available to cater to the academic needs of the Campus. The institution also provides Wi-Fi facility. The campus is under video surveillance cameras.






Rooftop Solar Panel

Rooftop solar panels harness sunlight to generate electricity. It is good source of energy that combats climate change. For the purpose of renewable power an environment friendly 25 KW Solar Panel is installed on the multipurpose hall.
